I love the Holidays. This year was even more exciting then ever because of Jack. Some of the things I love most about Christmas are the traditions that our little family has started. It starts early on in the season with the tree decorating, and ends Christmas Day. I love Christmas trees, and every year decorating is like going back down memory lane with all of the special ornaments that we have. One of the traditions my mom had started for my brother and I was to give us an ornament every year. When I finally graduated from college I got my special box of ornaments. I now do the same for our family (typically more the one a year though). Being a picture fanatic I love picture frame ornaments, and know they will continue to be fun to reminisce upon as the years go by. I loved our special tree this year, sitting with John with a glass of wine talking about the adventures to come this year were some of my favorite memories of the Holiday season and tradition we enjoy together. Tree decorating night always lends to take out pizza and a great glass of vino! I loved our tree this year and couldn't help but take one final picture before take down after New Year's.
My other favorite tradition that we started just last year was giving Christmas PJ's on Christmas Eve. I love it, and spend a lot of time looking for the perfect PJ's for Christmas Eve. The PJ tradition carries on into Christmas Day as I require everyone to be comfy cozy on Christmas Day and relax in their PJ's all day. It is awesome! This year I went with the Santa family PJ's. I had a little sizing trouble with Palin, I realized around Thanksgiving just how much weight she had gained in Jack's first year of life when my father in law informed us while in Mexico that Palin had weighed in at 45lbs at the groomer! Whoops, all that firm has hid her girth but she is on a diet starting January 1!
Christmas morning I always make a Christmas "Casserole" to start of the day and then cook a great dinner. This year I decided it was necessary to invest in a Mrs. Claus apron for me, a Papa Sem apron for Joe, and Grandma sprung for Jack's new apron he sports very nicely.
This year's newest tradition was "toy preparation" two nights before Christmas Eve to make things a little easier. Christmas movie, Baileys, and a bunch of puzzling directions. This years Elf duties included putting together a basketball hoop, wagon, play kitchen, and shopping cart. Success story!
Bottom line good times had Holidays 2012 only 358 days to go until next year!
