I was so excited for this trip to first celebrate La Chica's wedding but also for some authentic Puerto Rican fare. We all definitely got our sangria and plantain fix to last a few years before we have to head back. We could not have asked for more beautiful weather. Jack took two three hour naps on the beach on both Friday and Saturday so it gave John and I a big chunk of time to relax ourselves without chasing the little peanut around. Jack had his first water slide experience and to say the least we had to pull him screaming back to our room two days in a row because he wanted to keep going up and up and up on the slide. Definitely takes after JMS aka "The Water Slide King" on that front.
Friday afternoon we got to celebrate the pre wedding festitivities with a little salsa and reunion with La Chica. The last time I saw Marissa was on our wedding day three years ago. She saved the day becoming our impromptu wedding planner the day of our wedding and thank goodness. I mean she is a pro having her own event planning company and all. The best thing about our friendship is that no matter how many years pass when we see each other it is always the same. I feel so blessed for her and our friendship over the years. We have had so many funny, great memories that it just puts a smile on my face to think of them. It made me so incredibly happy and emotional to see just how happy Reggie makes her. When Marissa walked down the aisle on Saturday evening I couldn't help but get extremely emotional. Life is so crazy and busy right now that sometimes I forget to truly appreciate the friendships I have with people like La Chica. Chica you were a stunning bride, both inside and out. You are beautiful and I deeply admire you for all that you have accomplished. It meant so much to be a part of your day, and I thank you for all that you have done for me as a friend over the years and always remembering the little things that make a big difference.
Since Jack was also our wedding date that night I couldn't help looking down at him and thinking about how someday he would be a grown up, wearing a man's bow tie, waiting at the end of the aisle for some girl (that I hopefully love) to walk down and become his wife. I know I am about 25 years away from there but I figure I should start preparing myself now.
Bottom line it was an amazing weekend and I feel so incredibly to have you as part of my life Marissa, I love you and could not be happier for you and Reggie!
